Billy K. Halblaub
Billy Keith Halblaub, 82, passed away on Saturday, March 6, in his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born at home in Loudonville, on Aug. 10, 1927, son of William and Pearl (Young) Halblaub. He married his wife, the former Barbara Flickinger, on June 27, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Loudonville; and she survives.
A graduate of Loudonville High School Class of 45, he was a World War II veteran, a staff sergeant in the Fifth Constabulary Force in Europe.
He was an owner of VHF Construction and a member of the Carpenters Local Union 2239.
He belonged to First United Church of Christ in Marblehead where he served on the church council, was the moderator, the treasurer, and a deacon over the years.
He was a sargeant-at-arms at the Danbury Senior Center. He was an avid fisherman and a Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; one son, Scott (Lorrie) Halblaub of Marblehead; one grandson, Shane (Sidsel) Halblaub of Marblehead; two great-granddaughters, Astrid and Eva Halblaub of Marblehead; two sisters, Charlotte Lavinder of Loudonville and Norma Crowell of Crestline, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one granddaughter, Holly Halblaub.
Visitation was on Tuesday, March 9 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Neidecker, LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, OH 43440.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 10, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service at the First United Church of Christ, 802 Prairie St. Marblehead. The Rev. Kay Mooney Cox officiated. Burial followed at Sackett Cemetery in Danbury Township.
