Pictured above is Kayla Oxendale as she attempts to regain control of this loose ball against Cardinal Stritch. Oxendale had five assists and two points. Leading scorers were Heather Bahnsen with 12 and Christine Longer with 11. Brittany Isom had seven points and led the team with six rebounds. The team name was Danbury Youth Organization (DYO) met at the Danbury High School for a fun night of games on Jan. 27. Prizes were donated by Pizza Hut, Cinemark Theatre in Sandusky, Bruno's Pizzeria, and Sloopy's Sports Cafe. Pictured above are the Danbury Lady Lakers and coaches. The Lady Lakers raised $175 in cash donations along with boxes full of items that the fans brought to the game Saturday, Jan. 23, against Woodmore. The ladies collected non-parishable food items, bottled water, baby supplies, first aid items, cleaning supplies, and personal care items. On Sunday, Jan. 24, in connection with United Way, WPCR radio station, and Bassett's IGA in Port Clinton, the ladies helped sort items that were collected at IGA. The Danbury Lakers recently received a new scorekeepers table. Mike Speck, owner of Sloopy's Sports Cafe, was asked to sponsor the table and he said yes. Speck said that he will make payments to the school each year for the next 10 years to sponsor the table.
