Sheriff Bratton completes
annual mandatory training
On Feb. 17 and 18, Sheriff Bratton completed his mandatory 16-hour annual training in Columbus at the Crown Plaza Hotel. This was a two-day seminar sponsored by the Buckeye State Sheriffs' Association. This permitted sheriffs to have their initial opportunity to complete their training as required by the Ohio Revised Code.
The topics ranged from identity theft and computer fraud to media relations and more. Instructors from outside the area provided the most current and accurate information on these topics.
There were two guests who made presentations to the sheriffs -- Director of Ohio Public Safety Cathy Collins-Taylor and Ohio State Highway Patrol Superintendent David Dicken. Each made a presentation to the sheriffs in attendance. They provided an overview and an outlook on homeland security issues and matters regarding the operation of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
These training sessions bring together sheriffs from across the state. This is valuable in that one can learn a great deal about what is taking place in other sheriffs' offices. It is a time to discuss the critical financial state in which all of these sheriffs find themselves. It allows for new ideas and an exchange of information. It was well worth the time for just that type of conversation.
Sheriff Bratton has now completed his 16 hours of mandatory training required by the Ohio Revised Code. There will be more seminars throughout the state that he hopes to attend for furthering his knowledge in specific areas.
