Danbury boys
fall in sectional final
A furious fourth quarter rally by the Danbury boys' basketball team wasn't quite enough as the Lakers lost to the Monroeville Eagles in the sectional final at Port Clinton High School by a score of 61-59.
The Lakers trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half, but Senior Vincent Manuella and the rest of his teammates would not quit. Manuella scored 18 second-half points and the Lakers outscored Monroeville 37-25 in the second half; however the Lakers came up two points short at the buzzer.
"The players gave great effort," said Head Coach Joe Miller. "I am sad to the see the season come to an end and to have our seniors finish their high school careers with a loss, but it certainly wasn't from a lack of effort."
Vincent Manuella led the Lakers with 19 points and five assists. Hunter Stephens added 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Lucas Kennedy tallied 11 points. Tyler Boring had a solid stat line with nine points, eight rebounds, and eight blocked shots.
The five seniors that were a part of the Danbury Varsity team this season included Vincent Manuella, Tyler Boring, Steven Feyedelem, Nathan Hartman, and Rodney Johnson.
